Rare Antique Ironstone Colander

A rare antique Dutch ironstone colander, with twin handles and foot made by Petrus Regouta & Co Maastricht - and stamped with the factory's nineteenth century sphinx logo to its underside.

Plain, unadorned ironstone colanders with clean-lines and simple forms were part of everyday 19th and early 20th century below-stairs life . Their purity and functionality is as appealing today as it was then and  they make an arresting addition to the modern home.

Year of manufacture: c.1890

Material: Ceramic ironstone

Diameter handle to handle 26cm  Diameter 20cm  Height 10cm

Condition: some discolouration to the glaze, and a surface hairline to the glaze on the underside - see image.
