We have a small boxful of these vintage spools of silk thread.  The thread is wound around an attractive pink wooden spool, which carries the letters of its French manufacturer stamped at one end.  

Please note, due to the age of the thread it is not as strong as it might have been, and although it can still be used, these spools are best bought more for their decorative appeal.
