Dairy Pouring Bowls
£245.00
Two rather splendid Victorian dairy bowls with pouring lips which would have once been used to separate cream from milk in a dairy or farmhouse kitchen. Today they're perfect for holding fruit or vegetables and look great on the kitchen table. These dairy bowls with pouring lips are becoming increasingly hard to find; full of history, they're never in pristine condition, as they've seen a good 100 years or so of dairy service. We are selling these individually, so once you have read the description and its condition report, please make your choices in the box below. Note, the last 4 images relate to the pale primrose coloured dairy bowl.
A) Pale primrose interior / Diameter 47cm / Height 12.5cm / condition: two knocks to the glaze in the centre of the bowl, two small knocks to glaze on the rim, along with scuffs to the glaze near the rim - see images.
B) Pale green interior / Diameter 52cm / Height 16cm / condition: some flaking to the lifted glaze near to the pouring lip - see image.

The Christmas House
The Tudor House, Hastings, also known as The Christmas House, when it opened to visitors each December, had a place in the hearts of the many that passed through its wee front door. It was a magical experience, and was likened to stepping into a Brothers Grimm fairytale. The house is now sold and has passed into memory, yet its magical contents are not quite gone, as Alastair has saved the best for last - for our extra-special Christmas House Contents Sale.
The eclectic mix of primitive Eastern European furniture, English country furniture, folk-art and Black Forest antiques chosen for the house were honest and humble, yet always remarkable, and put together with a sense of theatre - to achieve a more contemporary take on the past. “It’s all about a careful mix, a telling of a story, and I hope others will find pleasure in the treasures I’ve collected and curated” says Alastair. “Select pieces that create surprise, that transform your space beyond reality!”
