A rare 1920s plates travelling box by Verney's. The lid is stencilled "Verney's Large Plates", and the two end panels are stencilled "Large Plates". It has a bracket hinged lid, reinforced metal trim corners, and a hasp. It would have been used to transport tea plates by train from the countryside to town or to fulfil an order placed by a private house. And considering all the work it has seen, it's in great condition.

Material: stained varnished pine, 3-ply and steel

Condition: all good, with some discolouration to the corner metal trim, as shown in the images - yet as would be expected, and it only adds to its history and patina.
