Vintage Wooden Stocking Stretchers

History
Wooden sock stretchers were used to prevent socks from shrinking after washing and were ubiquitous during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries in the UK and The States. The development of synthetic fabrics put an end to shrinkage and the need for the stretchers.
