Our A G Hendy & Co branded boxes will make your gift that extra special. Constructed from vulcanized cardboard with an internal aluminium frame and rivets for extra rigidity, they were originally made for the British Museum in the 1950s to be used as archive boxes. Never used, they were recently discovered in a forgotten store room belonging to the museum. Once unpacked, the box offers further very useful storage solutions for today’s office and home. Each box is labelled on the underside of its lid with Hendy’s Original British Museum Archive Box c.1950 printed on our hallmark oval sticker.
Vintage silver-plated cutlery
Well-proportioned, well-balanced and beautifully designed cutlery is a joy to use and is the making of a good meal. Our vintage flatware is EPNS (electro-plated nickel silver) and this classic rattail handle design was produced from 1900 through to the 1950s in Sheffield, England, then the heart of the world’s flatware industry. Its renewed popularity makes it a stylish addition to today’s table.
Vintage set of 6 silver plated soup spoons £38
Vintage large silver plated ladle £55
Vintage linen table runner £38
Altar candle £17.50
Our traditional free-standing altar candle is made by church candle makers, a family run business that was founded in London’s Bishopsgate in 1845. The candle is very slow burning and will last a good 160 hours. It does not run, for it contains a high percentage of beeswax, and it also burns regularly, so you avoid that wax-filled well that happens with lesser quality candles. Height 21cm
Crumb brush £19
A brush of soft goat’s hair and polished pear wood that is perfect for sweeping away the crumbs from your table. Yet it is as equally at home at your desk, for cleaning your laptop and keyboard. Length 26cm
