1930s Bakelite Desk Lamp by E K Cole Ltd

A rare 1930s all-Bakelite lamp designed by British designer Eric Kirkman Cole. It has a pivoting arm and adjustable shade for directional lighting making it ideal for the desk or the bedside table. 

History

Cole founded British electronics company EKCO in 1924 which is now chiefly remembered for its early twentieth century radio and television sets. Under E K Cole Ltd, it also expanded into other Bakelite production, such as table lamps, that were designed for and manufactured in Germany and the Eastern bloc under license.
