Grimwades Ironstone Pie Divider
£285.00
A very rare Grimwades ironstone "Bleriot" combined pie funnel and pie divider, designed so that the cook could bake a pie with two different and segregated fruit fillings. The front side is covered with green transfer printed graphic typography, explaining how to use the divider and to advertise the pie dish it will fit; and on the reverse side, their Grimwades Quick Cooker pudding bowl is charmingly illustrated. It has a little damage (see below), yet when you think of the decades of oven use it has seen, it's pretty negligible - and considering its rarity, we can forgive it.
Manufacturer: Grimwades Ltd, Stoke On Trent, UK
Date of manufacture: c.1920
Material: ironstone ceramic
Dimensions: Diameter 16cm / Height 9cm / Width 6cm
Condition: It has three chips, two to the edge/underside of the top and one to the base, which have had white filler applied; and there's some very slight discolouration to the glaze around the tip. See images.
