1930s Theatre Mask
Sold
A beautiful and very rare 1930s papier-mache theatre mask of a deer head that looks like it has come straight out of an early twentieth century rendition of a Midsummer Night's Dream. The underside of the muzzle is hinged and is controlled by a spring, opening and closing by the actor's jaw as he speaks, and it is with its original paint. It would make a stunning wall decoration.
Height 55cm Width 29cm Depth 16cm

Country of origin: UK
Condition: exceptional condition for its age and without damage, with just a little wear to the paint on the antlers which adds to its charm and is testament to its age and performance history.
