History

James Sadler and Sons Ltd was founded in 1882 by James Sadler in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, UK. Sadlers were one of the leading UK manufacturers of quality utilitarian ceramics throughout the twentieth century. Their heyday was in the first half of the century, and they soon became synonymous with the manufacture of teapots - namely the world-famous Brown Betty; coffee pots; and water jugs.
