Teddy Bear Picnic

Sold

A picnic of antique and vintage British-made teddy bears, dating from the 1930s and the 1950s.  We are selling these wonderful collector's teddy bears separately, so please make your choice in the box below.  We suggest the collective term for a group of teddies be "a picnic".  Note: we now only have the dashingly handsome Father Ted left.

Big Ted (centre)

Made from buff-brown mohair plush, our big ted has been much loved yet is still in wonderful condition. Born in the 1950s, his paw pads are also in brown plush and he has amber coloured eyes.  His nose and mouth are embroidered and he has a rotating head, with swivel jointing to his stout arms and legs, and is stuffed with his original wood-wool. He's a handsome boy.

Country of origin: UK

Date of manufacture: c.1950

Material: mohair plush and wood wool

Dimensions: Height 57cm  Width shoulder-to-shoulder 23cm  Height when sitting 39cm

Condition: excellent, with only small signs of having been a well-loved bear. Many years of touch and play have discoloured his fur slightly, giving it a faded tone.

£125 SOLD

Teen Ted (left)

Our charming little chap is much sort after, as he was created in the 1920s - and possibly earlier. Made from a classic shade of gold mohair, he has been much loved. His neat paw pads are made of brown leather and each has three embroidered claws. He has amber coloured eyes; his nose and mouth are embroidered; his head and arms rotate, and he has swivel jointing to his stout legs. He is stuffed with his original wood-wool fill.

Country of origin: UK

Date of manufacture: c.1920

Material: mohair plush and wood wool

Dimensions: Height 34cm  Width shoulder-to-shoulder 13cm  Height when sitting 25cm

Condition: many years of touch and play have left him a little threadbare and he has lost quite a lot of his fur, yet this truly adds to his character.

£125 SOLD
