Verney's Country House Plates Box

A rare and charming 1920s plates travelling box by Verney's. The lid is stencilled "Verney's", and the two end panels are stencilled "Small Plates".  It has a bracket hinged lid, reinforced metal trim corners, and a hasp. It would have been used to transport tea plates by train from the countryside to town or to fulfil an order placed by a private house. Please note condition report below.

Year of manufacture: c.1920

Origin: England

Material: stained varnished pine, 3-ply and steel

Length: 36cm

Depth: 22cm

Height: 21cm

Condition: fair, the inside of its base and sides are in poor condition (see last images), and are slightly loose from the main frame - yet this is not noticeable from the outside, and the little box would make a wonderful display item.
