Dairy Pouring Bowl
£395.00
A large Victorian ironstone dairy pouring bowl with a particularly striking pouring lip, which would have once been used to separate cream from milk in a dairy. It has a few signs of ware, yet these early large ironstone dairy bowls are getting much harder to find, and so we can forgive its slight damage, which is also keenly reflected in the price.
Plain, unadorned ironstone pouring bowls with clean-lines and simple forms were part of the everyday 19th and early 20th century dairy. Their purity and functionality is as appealing today as it was then; and they are now very much prized, as they make an arresting addition to the modern home.
Year of manufacture: c.1900
Origin: England
Material: Ceramic ironstone
Dimensions: Diameter 39cm / Diameter to spout 44cm / Height 9.5cm
Condition: it has a chip to its rim (1.5cm x 1cm); some spots of discoloration to the rim of the pouring lip; and there is some heavy crazing to the glaze. See images.
