Dairy Supply Company Pouring Bowl

£495.00

A super-large Victorian ironstone dairy pouring bowl by the "Dairy Supply Company London" (stamp applied to underside) with a rolled rim and a particularly striking pouring lip. It has a few signs of ware, yet these early ironstone pouring bowls are getting much harder to find, and so we can forgive its slight damage, which is also keenly reflected in the price.

Plain, unadorned ironstone pouring bowls with clean-lines and simple forms were part of the everyday 19th and early 20th century dairy. Their purity and functionality is as appealing today as it was then; and they are now very much prized, as they make an arresting addition to the modern home.

Year of manufacture: c.1900

Origin: England

Material: Ceramic ironstone

Dimensions: Diameter 44cm / Diameter to spout 49cm / Height 10cm

Condition: a very fine hairline crack runs from the rim down the side, but doesn't reach the base and there is a chip to the underside of pouring spout about 1cm wide, yet it isn't too prominent as it sits underneath - see final three images. There is some light crazing to the glaze, as is normal for ironstone of this age.
