Large Edwardian Mortar & Pestle

An apothecary's mortar & pestle, of generous size, weighing in at 4.3kg, and dating to the turn of the last century. The mortar and the tip of the pestle is made out of vitrified porcelain, making it durable and very tactile. The pestle has a turned wood handle which has seen the hands of many, crushing powders and tablets for over a century, resulting in a beautifully aged patina. Underneath it is stamped "Warranted acid proof 3 8 ". It has been deep-cleaned and is now excellent for kitchen use.
