Scottie Dog Bookends
Sold
A charming pair of 1930s carved wood scottie dog bookends. Each dog has a painted red collar and tongue, and is mounted on an oak platform with an oak support modelled as a book. Scottie dogs were all the rage in the 1930s: as pets with box-clipped muzzles; as motifs for stylised Art Deco Bakelite brooches and clasps; adorning greetings and postcards; as ornaments, modelled in china, metal and wood; and as bookends - such as this dear little pair.
