Dome of Discovery


The Victorians created precious unattainable worlds in miniature, and put them under glass.  Here we put some totally obtainable and downright useful things under glass and offer them for sale here - including the wonderful antique glass dome itself.

Antique Dome

A late 19th century glass dome set on its original black painted wooden base, which may have once been a globe de mariée, un reliquaire d'amour - a marriage dome, that held love tokens amongst gilded wire foliage. The fine hand-blown glass contains small air bubble inclusions and imperfections, only found in antique glass, which gives the contents an ethereal quality.
