Victorian Bread Proving Bowl

A very good-looking late nineteenth century bread proving bowl with a cream coloured glazed interior and a deep rolled rim.  The delightful glaze smudges on its terracotta exterior add character - and hand-thrown charm. Perfect for the kitchen or the dining table. We think wonderful when filled with vegetables or lettuces.

Year of manufacture: c.1890

Origin: England

Material: earthenware

Diameter 42cm Height 17.5cm

Condition: very good - no chips, no cracks, no restoration. Slight rock to base, yet such imperfections are characteristic of hand-thrown pottery, and simply add to their charm.
