Salt Jar
A good large Grimwades ironstone banded jar with original lid, with SALT typography. Perfect for sea salt when stored alongside the cooker hob. The jar has a surprise, for the underside of its lid is liberally decorated with graphic typography and illustrations.
On the underside of the salt jar's lid the green transfer printed typography reads: "Ask At Any First Class China Stores For" / "All Made In Finest English Ironstone China". Here Grimwades take the opportunity to charmingly advertise further products: their Quick Cooker "For light puddings and stews"; their pie dish; and their safety milk bowl. And all beautifully and graphically illustrated. See image. And by a quirk of chance, the Quick Cooker, Pie Divider and Safety Milk Bowl depicted, we also have here for sale.
On the underside of the salt jar's base the green transfer printed typography reads: "The Grimwade Hooped Household Jar Supplied in 7 sizes 4 1/2 inch to 10 1/2 inch, Sago, Rice, Tapioca, Raisins, Currants, Flour, Meal,Salt, Sugar, Peas, Oatmeal, Barley, Sultanas & Lentils".

Pie Divider
A very rare Grimwades ironstone "Bleriot" combined pie funnel and pie divider, designed so that the cook can bake a pie with two different and segregated fruit fillings. The front side is covered with green transfer printed graphic typography, explaining how to use the divider and to advertise the pie dish it will fit; and on the reverse side, their Quick Cooker pudding bowl is charmingly illustrated. It has a little damage (see below), yet when you think of the decades of oven use it has seen, it's pretty negligible - and considering its rarity, we can forgive it.
Dimensions: Diameter 16cm / Height 9cm / Width 6cm
Condition: It has three chips, two to the edge/underside of the top and one to the base, which have had white filler applied; and there's some small discolouration to the glaze around the tip. See images.
